Customer Spotlight: Stuart Taylor, VMware

Stuart is a Senior Manager of Talent Discovery at VMware. This month, Stuart is the focus of our Customer Spotlight, in recognition of how he has been using the Beamery platform to unlock human potential at his organization.

Beamery: What is your favorite Beamery feature, and why?

Stuart: Automation. Beamery’s automated features work cooperatively across the entire platform and external tools, to make our organization more efficient than ever.

Beamery’s thoughtful implementation of automation is a cornerstone of our day-to-day activities. Whether it is leveraging Beamery recipes to identify talent for re-engagement, sending a follow-up message to those that have yet to respond to an initial outreach, or helping VMware move the needle in interviewing and hiring diverse talent, Beamery’s automated offerings make our organization more effective and efficient.

B: Describe the problems you are able to solve with Beamery.

S: Prior to our implementation of Beamery, we were not effective in connecting with previously engaged talent.

This premier talent pool was left dormant, as it was too cumbersome to search our database to locate talent that finished second in an interview cycle (Silver Medalists), or had previously applied for similar positions, but may not have had the opportunity to interview. This talent is a gold mine, and it was untapped.

Since the Beamery implementation, we are now able to highlight this engaged talent pool and create automated outreach programs catered to them. The results are astounding.

B: What has VMware been able to achieve since partnering with Beamery?

S: VMware has realized tremendous success in connecting with talent that was previously unreachable, by utilizing the Campaign function in Beamery. Not only are we reaching this talent, but also, by leveraging various automated features in Beamery, we are delivering content to this talent pool at a cadence that is preferred by the recipient.

This has produced unheard-of message open rates. Our open rate on these campaigns is twice that of our LinkedIn open rate. A prime example: VMware recently launched a 5-month series of outreach newsletters that featured a select few hard-to-fill openings.

The results speak for themselves. The open rates during this stretch ranged from 45% to 61%, with an average of 294 original applications from each newsletter.

While we are responsible for the content, the automation features in Beamery allowed us to identify the target audience, easily deliver the newsletter, and automate responses and triggers for following-up with the new applicants with little to no effort.
